German for Ukrainians who want to quickly reach level B1

Many Ukrainians with ambitions who attend the standard courses at the established institutions are frustrated by the slow learning progress. With this course, Pro Ukraïna offers a possibility to accelerate language acquisition.

Background

It is a fact that Ukrainians are used to more drill from school, and many of them already know English. Ambitious Ukrainians can therefore be picked up at a good level. The many calls to Pro Ukraïna prove that there is a need for such a course. We meet this need with an intensive course.

Goal

German level B1

In this course, the hard-earned vocabulary and grammar skills are also translated into active language, which is indispensable for a successful job search and at work. Many Ukrainians already understand German quite well and would like to finally take this last step towards active use. We help them to achieve this.

Implementation

Pro Ukraïna has set itself the goal of facilitating the considerable leap from level A2 to B1 efficiently and in a compact ,with qualified teachers in a small group of 8 to 10 participants so that the participants have a real chance of passing the B1 exam at the end of the course. Pro Ukraïna has already successfully recruited two teachers from the university sector for the project.

To ensure that the start succeeds without delay, the prospective participants take an examination to assess their language skills. This is to ensure that all participants attend the German course with roughly similar prerequisites.

Resultat: Gelungener Start

The first entrance examination took place on 7 February 2023. The course started on schedule with a group of 10 participants on 28 February 2023. An important factor was to make the course possible for those who would like to quickly take up a job opportunity in Switzerland and need a good knowledge of German to do so.

The students worked for 3 hours with great concentration and in a relaxed atmosphere. The programme is demanding, as the aim is to reach level B1 in about four months.

The courses take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm in the Kirchgemeindehaus Veltheim in Winterthur.
